Artist Spotlight: Swayatra

We are pleased to welcome Ankita Trivedi a.k.a. Swayatra as a featured Blind Boxes creator. A trained interior and product designer, Swayatra has worked as a multi-disciplinary artist for world renowned music events such as the Boom Festival in Portugal, Modem Festival in Croatia, and Shankra Festival in Switzerland. Raised in Jodhpur in the state of Rajasthan (India), Ankita’s parents were convinced she would choose interior design as a career, given her penchant for drawing and painting mandalas (geometric designs) on the walls of her home growing up. She formally pursued Interior Design at Anand, a college in the state of Gujarat, India and followed up with a course in Product Design at MIT, Pune.

A flourishing career in Mumbai soon beckoned, but Ankita found her calling in the creative arts when she was not working on office projects. After six years of corporate life in the fast lane, Ankita moved to the sleepy town of Goa to pursue an art program at Vaayu — a beach facing eco-conscious boutique hotel and café, with a surf club, and an artist-in-residency program, where a vibrant community from all over the world lived together and collaborated with each other. Those two months spent in a creative cocoon with a like-minded tribe reignited her passion for art, which led to global opportunities with EDSA (Extra Dimensional Space Agency) creating epic stage and arena environments for music festivals around the world.

Ankita has truly lived up to her moniker, Swayatra, which means “self-journey” in Hindi, as she expands her artistic pursuits in mixed media and continues to showcase her installations at the exhibitions held at Vaayu, while also working as a designer at Hybrid UV, a stage design & décor company based in Goa.
